Day 30

Day 30 - A picture of someone you miss

The last day! Keeping up with this has been tough!!

I miss Bailey Bug.  He is spending the weekend with my parents.  He wanted to go play with their puppies, and my mom is bringing him back on Tuesday.  I miss him!  He loves to go to my parent's house though.  They have tons of room to run and play.  Their dog loves to play with Bailey.  He gets so much of his energy out at my parent's house.  I think my dad likes having Bailey around too.  They are buddies.  I miss that face!

Day 29

Day 29 - A picture that can always make you smile

Any old pictures of me and Joseph.  Look how young we look.

Day 28

Day 28 - A picture of something you're afraid of

Snapping Turtles.  Want to see someone run?  Let me see one of these things.

Notice how it isn't hiding in it's shell?  That is because they are scared of nothing.  That turtle wants nothing more than to break free and chomp that arm off.

My parents have a pond on their property, and these things live in it.  I have watched one take down a entire goose.  I am scared to death of them.  In fact, I came home from work one day and found one in my parent's front yard.  It had crawled from the pond area, up a hill, across a driveway, and into their yard.  I freaked out and called a friend to come get it.

It isn't like my parents live in some swamp either.  They have a house in the woods, with a pond that somehow has these horrible snapping turtles that live in it.

Ugh! Just the thought of them freaks me out.

Day 27

Day 27 - A picture of yourself and a family member

I thought I would do a bunch of pictures of my little family.

This.... is me after I had Blake.  See that cake? I wasn't allowed to eat any.  I was so sick.  I wasn't allowed to have anything to eat, because they were talking about taking me back to surgery.  I was also about to have another blood transfusion.  I originally refused to let people take pictures of me.  This picture was taken on Sunday.  My induction started on Thursday.  That was the last time I was allowed to eat.  That was the last time I was allowed to shower/stand.  That was the last time I had done any type of damage control.  I was sick from my seriously low blood count, low blood pressure, being put to sleep, and being in labor for 36 hours prior to all of that.

I am glad that I let my mom take this picture.  It is our first family picture.  She swore I would regret not taking a picture in the hospital, and she was right.  She was very respectful of my wishes, and never shared it with anyone without letting me know.  She didn't plaster it all over the internet, which was one of the reasons I asked everyone to not take pictures of me until I was able to shower.  I am thankful she took it, and she respected my privacy about it.  Since others were not as respectful... I figured I would go ahead and share.  Here we are, momma looking like death and everything.

Day 26

Day 26 - A picture of something that means a lot to you

I know... I am a few days behind! I am sorry.  This week has been so busy.

I like things with family history.  I picked two things that mean a lot to me.

My great grandmother's jewelry box.  I don't have a ton of jewelry, but I do remember her every time I get dressed up.  I pull out my fancy jewelry and remember my Dandan.

I just love this.  The vase looks so nice in my bathroom.  It is from my grandmother.  It survived the move from England to here, and now it is at my house.

Day 25

Day 25 - A picture of your day

I hurt my back on Thursday, so we took it easy today. We took a family nap this morning (naps are always nice, since Blake's wakeup time is between 630-7), and I snuggled with my Blakeman. We finally got up and ran a few errands.

I make all of Blake's baby food at home, so we got supplies for more baby food making. I am very pround to say that Blake has never had a jar baby food. I am also proud that we just bought his first can of formula last week, and he is still getting mostly breast milk. I really encourage other mothers to try making your own baby food, it is just so much cheaper! It also has no preservatives when you make it at home. It is actually pretty easy to do! If you don't though, no judgement from me. Every family is different... And every family has different goals. One of mine was to breast feed for 6 months and make my own baby food.

We also went shopping. I needed a new outfit for Blake's six month pictures. I can't believe he is getting so big. My little man is growing so fast.

Day 24

Day 24 - A picture of something you wish you could change

Child abuse.  It amazes me what people do to their children.  Screaming, beating, throwing things... are all abuse.  Breaking things over your child is abuse.  Children are so precious, I just don't understand how anyone could do this to a child.  There are times when Blake is upset and it is frustrating, but I could never look into his innocent eyes and hurt him.  Child abuse is being a bully to something smaller and defenseless.   I don't know how these people live with themselves.

Here are some statistics-

Almost five children die everyday as a result of child abuse. More than three out of four are under the age of 4.
About 30% of abused and neglected children will later abuse their own children, continuing the horrible cycle of abuse.
Children who experience child abuse & neglect are 59% more likely to be arrested as a juvenile, 28% more likely to be arrested as an adult, and 30% more likely to commit violent crime.

Day 23

Day 23 - A picture of your favorite book

Well, I have a few (big surprise right?).   They are pretty different, but I love them for different reasons.

I found this one well before the movie, and I have to say the book is MUCH better.

Day 22

Day 22 - A picture of something you wish you were better at

Photography.  I am learning, but I am no where near what I wish I could do.  It is hard to learn with a baby.  He is NEVER still, and I find myself saying, "Wait Blake, I am not ready", "Blake look up here", "Crap, why did it turn out so blurry??" all the time.  I am learning though.  Sometimes I take pictures, and they all turn out horrible.... other times I get a few quality ones.  I am hoping that eventually, I will get more good ones than bad! One can dream right?
