Day Four

Day 04 - A picture of your night

We are pretty boring during the week.  Blake's bedtime is seven.  Joseph usually gets home around five, so it is a rush to get dinner, bath, bottle, book, and in bed by seven.  Sometimes we have to skip book, or even bathtime.  So, here is how our typical night goes.

And then bed.  After Blake goes to bed, I usually clean up and get ready for the next day.  Exciting? No, but we love it.

Day Three

Day Three- A picture of the cast from your favorite show

That's right.  I am a Survivor freak.  I come from a family of Survivor freaks.  In fact, this Christmas we got my dad a Survivor hat.

We have weekly Survivor night calls on Wednesday afternoon, followed by Survivor talk on Thursday.  It is a family obsession.

Day Two

Day two-A picture of you and the person you have been closest with the longest.

I had to pick two people. Melissa and Tiffany are a tie in this one.

I met Melissa in the 9th grade.  We were buddies all through high school.  If I had a dollar for every morning I sat outside of her house waiting for her to go to school.... Joseph wouldn't be in the Marines.  She has never been a morning person ;) We went to high school together, and then we went to college together.  She is an awesome person and friend.  We have so many awesome memories together.  She is someone that I can call for help tomorrow, and she would be there.

I met Tiffany my first night at Western Carolina.  She practically opened my dorm room door and said, "You had dinner yet??".  In true Tiffany fashion, she didn't ask me if I wanted to have dinner with her, she just stood by the door and waited for me.  We have been buddies ever since.  We took care of each other through college.  We worried through classes.  We took each other to the campus doctor's office when the other was sick.

I have been through a ton with these girls.  They are always there.  We have inside jokes (like smelly pirate hooker).  They made my time at Western.  Love them!

30 Day Project

A friend of mine did this project on her blog. It was really interesting to read, so I thought I would do the same. The project has a different topic for every day. Hopefully I will get a chance to post everyday. If not, I will have to make up days later. So.... Here we go!

Day One-Post a picture of yourself with 15 facts

1. I love trash TV. That's right, Teen Mom, Real World, Bachelor, Greys Anatomy... I love it all
2. I am just starting to get into photography. It is really interesting, but also much more difficult than it seems.
3. I am married to a Marine. Although I a proud of him, I look at his job as just that... A job. I refuse to live off of his accomplishments.
4. We have a beautiful baby boy named Blake. He is amazing, sweet, loving, and stubborn. I wouldn't trade him for the world.
5. We have two angels in Heaven. I think about Ethan and Jacob every single day.
6. Having Blake makes me realize how much we lost when we lost Ethan and Jacob.
7. I constantly think about how much Blake lost when Ethan and Jacob passed away.... And the fact that he has no idea. He lost brothers, friends, enemies, and playmates.
8. I think losing Ethan and Jacob made me appreciate my family much more than I did before. I think I took them for granted. They were there for Joseph and I. They took care of us. we wouldn't have made it through that without their help.
9. I never knew love until Blake smiled at me. He melts my heart.
10. I am a bit of a germ freak. I learned it from my dad.
11. I am scared to death of flying. Seriously. My husband refuses to fly with me unmediated anymore.
12. I love sweets, which is one of the reasons I haven't lost all of my ivf/baby weight yet.
13. I love little old men. I think they are adorable.
14. Joseph is leaving for deployment this summer, and I am nervous. I have never experienced deployment with a child. I have to take care of him. I have to keep it together for him. I am sure I will be fine, but it is scary.
15. I have been breastfeeding Blake for 4.5 months. I'm so ready to stop, but I feel guilty giving him formula.

Where We Are

I love where we are right now. I wish I could freeze time. I wish we could keep things exactly as they are. Where is the pause button?

We are having a great time with our little Blakeman. He is interacting, and he is just a fun little guy. His personality is starting to show, and I love spending time with him. He is definitely a daddy's boy. Blake lights up when Joseph comes through the door. He loves playing and laughing.

Joseph is in school now. This school has easy, short days. We are getting very spoiled by him being home all the time. I love that he is able to spend so much time with Blake. He will be deploying soon enough, so this extra time is cherished. We are happy in our house. We have found a church that we really like. My family is close enough to visit us. They are a major part of Blake's life. We have really found our place here. I wish things could stay like this forever.

The last time I felt like this was a completely different situation. We were sitting in the NICU with Ethan. I just wanted time to stop. I never wanted to say goodbye. I remember thinking, "Just wait! I need more time". Time wouldn't stop for us. Hours went by in a blink. Joseph and I faced something that no parent should have to, saying goodbye far too soon.

Time continues on, in good times and bad. I think this is a blessing, as much as we do not understand it at times.

New Pictures

I have been playing with my new camera lens.  I am still learning.  I wish the weather was nicer, and I could practice outside! Instead, I took some of Blake playing in his room.
