Aunts and Grandmas

Blake had his Aunt Carly, Granny Linda, and Nana Lisa (She has no idea what she wants to be called, so I am trying out new names) come visit him this week! He snuggled all day long with Aunt Carly.  She has the snuggle touch apparently.  He just loved it! I forgot to take any pictures with Aunt Carly... sorry! We will get extra next time.

The grandmas spent the day with Blake, and he was all smiles.  I think he knows when grandmas are here.  He is just so happy.  Here are some pictures with his Granny Linda and Gran Gran Lisa (I think I like nana better).

All smiles about getting attention

National Pregnancy/Infant Loss Awareness Day

Today is National Pregnancy/Infant Loss Awareness Day.  It is amazing and sad how many people experience losses.  Today was a day to remember all of the angels who gained their wings too early.  It is also a day to remember those mommies and daddies who had to say goodbye far too quickly.  I hate that this day is in the middle of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  I feel like our angels get forgotten in the pink month.

As I think back on the blink of time that we had with Ethan and Jacob, I am sad we didn't have more time with them.  We got 11 minutes and 36 hours with our children.  That is not nearly enough.  I have spent more time with random strangers than I got with my own children.  Many times I wonder what they would have been like, and wish I had more time to know their little personalities.  I wonder how they would have been to raise.  I wonder if they would get along with Blake when we decided to transfer him.  What would our family be like with three boys?

Today is a day to remember them, and all of their angel friends.  I have no doubts that they are looking over us and helping us take care of Blake.  Not one day goes by that we don't remember them, and our lives are forever changed because of them.

I also wanted to include some tips for dealing with infant loss.  We had a lot of people respond in really wonderful and really odd ways.  Here are some helpful ideas for others.  This is from facesofloss.com.

Acknowledge their profound loss, right away. You may be afraid you’ll say something ‘stupid,’ but the worst thing you can say is nothing at all.

Don’t say, “let me know if I can help.” They are not in a place where they can give direction right now. Offer an idea instead. Say, “I am going to bring you dinner Thursday night,” and just do it.

 Send a card.

Drop off a care package. Include some junk food, a couple light-hearted movies, and maybe even a bottle of wine.

Buy them a memorial/remembrance gift. Perhaps a necklace, request their baby's name be written in the sand, or donate to a charitable organization in honor of their baby

If you’re close, ask if you can come over and just “be” with them.

When you see them, don’t be afraid to speak their child’s name. Saying you've been thinking about their baby means more than you'll ever know.

Keep texting, calling, emailing and facebooking to let them know you are thinking about them, even after it’s been a few weeks or months. Even when they appear to be “over it” or back to their old self, they will still be hurting, and will still need to know people have not forgotten about their child.

Try to remember and acknowledge important dates, such as their due date, loss date, Mother’s Day, and Father’s Day.

So many posts!

We had a little extra time today, and I decided to take some pictures.  We have not taken pictures outside since Blake was a week or so old.  He has changed so much! Here are my favorites...

 What is that over there???
 I love his eyes!
My happy boys.  They have the same grin!

Look at this happy little man!

He looks bored with me.  I am  obviously not nearly as entertaining as daddy.
 Yawning.... thanks Blake.
Our family... complete with Bailey peaking around Joseph
Now for some around the house pictures....  Tell me this child does not look just like Joseph in this picture.
Waiting for me to get ready for church!

Blake's Weekly Pictures

This week I didn't take pictures, I did some videos.  These were the first videos that we have taken of Blake (I know!!!).  I wish we had taken some of him when we first brought him home, but I was just not doing well from the c-section.
So... here are his first videos!

This is him fussing about tummy time.  He hates it, and this may be the only video of him not screaming during tummy time.

Here is Blake and his frogman friend.  He loves watching him dance!  He has just started talking to him.

We Have A Roller

Blake officially rolled over today, well twice actually.  Sigh... my baby is growing up.  As my friend Rachele said, he found a loophole to this whole tummy time situation.  He hates tummy time with a passion, so his solution... learn to roll over onto his back.  That isn't bad logic for a guy who has only been in this outside world for 6 1/2 weeks.  I am almost positive that tummy time will now consist of me putting Blake on his tummy, and him rolling onto his back.

Joseph was playing with him in his tummy time "play" mat.  Blake likes to call it the tummy time torture device.  I am absolutely thrilled that we paid 50.00 for this fun play area, and my son acts like it is punishment to go in there. Well, maybe he will grow into it?  Anyway, Joseph was making him do his tummy time today.  Blake was doing his usual fussing and complaining about the situation.  Blake then decided to roll over.  I missed the first time, but he was kind enough to do it again for his mommy.  That's my sweet boy.

I am so proud of him, but so sad too.  I never thought this time would go so fast.  I keep telling Blake to take his time growing up, but I don't think he is listening.  He is making me realize he won't be my little, cuddly baby for as long as I want him to be.

We haven't gotten the rolling on video yet, but that will be my project for next week!

Blake's Weekly Pictures

This week my mom came down to visit.  Blake got a lot of grandma time, and I got a bit of a break! It was a fun visit, even if we did just sit around the house.  I took a lot of pictures of Blake during his tummy time this week.  If you notice, he is not on his tummy in most of them.  That is because my dear, cute, sweet, innocent boy... would rather be attacked by wild dogs than lay on his tummy.  He hates it.  So, we do a few minutes of tummy time, followed by happy time on his back.  I think he is going to hate baths and laying on his tummy when he leaves for college at this rate!

I also FINALLY got some pictures of his smiles.  Who cares that he smiles at the windows and lamp more than he does at us?  At least he is smiling.  I think he knows it is driving Joseph crazy that he smiles at bright objects in our house more than he does at his parents.  Eventually he will realise we are a lot cooler than that stupid lamp.

Looking at his favorite lamp.

More lamp love with grandma... I think she is staring at it too! What is it with this lamp?
This is Blake's mad face.... he learned it from his daddy
"I hate being on my tummy"
He isn't thrilled, but he is not screaming.

 I love his eyes
 Helping cook dinner
 Big smiles in the morning
 Happy baby

He loves this dancing frog.  He will watch it over and over again! They are best friends :)

Bailey likes watching the dancing frog too!
